I think trees were the first creatures I ever loved. In #Carcassonne this week, nothing seems more important than climbing all the trees I can find, and sitting in them to think, to see the world. I started smelling the tree bark yesterday, as though I were remembering the skin of an old lover. As a child growing up in Nigeria, I wanted nothing more than to have a house in a tree. I think I still do. France is being very good to me, and tomorrow I’ll begin to travel with a friend, who wants to show me more places around this area. Being here, where I am, I am remembering a lot of things I feel I knew when I was growing up in Africa; things I had forgotten. I am happy to be remembering.
